Act II - Tales Of The Past I
Ulu Dong is where the characters came into being, through the performance of a dance and initiation between the three characters. As we embodied the characters in the performance act, the characters’ nature, essence and roles became much clearer, and we began to understand the questions we raised in Act I on a deeper layer. As the characters interacted with each other during the performance, the dynamics of their relationship started to show, and it gave more layers and textures to their personalities.
In bringing ourselves and the characters into the rural landscape, we not only stripped ourselves down to the basic essence of the world, we could also connect deeper with the characters. The urban pace is always fast, but time slows down in rural areas. The slowed down rhythm allowed us to be present with ourselves, we were able to immerse deeply into the characters, and they awaken.
