Tsunami
Even though we were born in Singapore, far away from where the 2004 tsunami was, everyone back in Singapore was experiencing the tragedy together. The images on the news broadcast stations showed one grief stricken land after another. Waves tearing through entire villages and towns. People screaming and running for their lives. Stories of people who sacrificed their lives to save another. Even though we were not directly affected, we did see the traumatic effects nature can have. In the subsequent years in school, I remember studying about the tsunami in sociology and geography classes. It was not forgotten by Singapore.
The artwork, infused with shamanistic practices and healing elements, highlights the emotional impact of the tsunami on the victims and their families.
